I had a great time reading in DC with fellow writer friends Daniel Long, Tony Mancus, Kathy Crutcher, and Michael Sheehan. The event was co-sponsored by The Fiddleback and Flying Guillotine Press—founded by Tony Manucs and Sommer Browning. Check 'em out and buy one of their beautiful, handmade chapbooks.
Friends on the East Coast: I turn 30 next Saturday (FB event page), which is the also the birthday of my amazing cousin, Jill M. Foster. To celebrate, I'm putting together a reading/birthday celebration in Washington DC, featuring me, Tony Mancus, Daniel Long, Michael Sheehan, and Kathy Crutcher. It'll be a great time, and I'd love to see all of you again before I die.
Be Sure to check out the latest issue of The Fiddleback, which also happens to be our one-year anniversary issue. If you like the work we've featured this past year, consider clicking here and donating $5 to our cause. All proceeds go directly toward our overhead. No editor is paid for his or her time—which is considerable. Endless thanks to our contributors and readers. We love you.
For those of you who missed the Leslie Powell or IAO events, I'm reading with my friend Timothy Bradford whose new book, Nomads with Samsonite, is out now with BlazeVox Books. If you've ever wanted a roller-coaster designed for verse lovers, these are for you.
Full Circle Books is one of my favorite bookstores and one of the only places in Oklahoma where you'll find sliding book ladders, competent staff, and a solid collection of contemporary poetry. If you like books and live in Oklahoma, stop by for a coffee and copy of Vertical Hold. You won't be sorry.
